Yet another "Greatest Hits" tour - Spear of DestinWell, maybe not greatest hits but Spear of Destiny are a few dates into "The Singles Tour", the set-list comprising of all the singles they've ever released or had released on their behalf which indicates that Kirk wasn't always in agreement with record company policy, now there's a shock!
I saw them on Sunday night at Rios in Leeds and they were absolutely superb, tight as the proverbial gnat's chuff and as powerful and inspiring as in their mid-80s pomp. Good to see John "Boy" Leonard on sax although he does nowadays look worryingly like a slightly anorexic version of LadP!!!
An excellent gig and I'm now nicely battered and bruised in readiness for the "4240" tour!

Used to love S.O.D., some of the best gigs I've seen, but I lost interest after all that Never Take Me Alive tosh though, he had a feckin awesome band up till he sacked them and got the session guys in.
What's the line-up now mate?

Line-up for the current tour:
Adrian Portas: guitars
Robin Goodridge: drums
Craig Adams: bass
Kirk Brandon: vocals, guitar
John "Boy" Lennard: sax
Portas used to be the 'live' guitarist for New Model Army. Drummer Goodridge was in Bush before they split. Craig Adams was the bassist in the Mission/Sisters of Mercy. Don't think John Boy needs andy introduction...
Gonna take them in at Sheffield Corp on Thursday when they are supported by the mighty Artery...what a gig!

Saw SOD in Sheffield last night. Played in the small room at the Corporation and it was pretty packed. Played a good 80 minutes set including some v.well know singles and some of the more obscure ones. Kicked off with "Radio Radio" and ended with "Never take me alive" before double encoring with "Mickey" and "Liberator".
Have to say that Kirk Brandon is looking well these days, even if his taste in shirts has deteriorated. That voice is also sounding in fine fettle too. Other tracks they played from memory were "The Wheel", "The Flying Scotsman", "Prisoner of Love", "All my love", "Come back", "Strangers in our town", "Berlin Berlin" and "Uphill backwards".
Yes...overall a good night, and Artery were pretty damn good too.
P.S. was actually a six piece as had some bloke on keys...
