Only got 'Pink Flag' from many, many moons ago.......

Almost tempted to see 'em at the Nottingham gig, midweek though which means it'll probably never happen.

Same here Jim. Why did they move it, lack of ticket sales?

Hope you have a good time in Leeds. It's tomorrow innit? Wasn't so taken by the new LP Object 47 myself either - preferred the R&B stuff too. Quite like "One Of Us" but the rest hasn't grabbed me yet. Let us know how it is Jim...
theraven1979

Aye cheers - tomorrow it is. Mekon Headman (or whatever it's called) isn't bad but the rest of it is very mellow/polished IMO.

Saw a review in Q and they thought it the LP was great....perhaps it's a grower!
theraven1979

Probably written by a 14 year old who's not heard their back catalogue

So Jim....what news of Wire do you bring us from Leeds...
theraven1979

Review will be here at the weekend.

Needless to say it was the best gig I've ever been to in my life ever Laughing

Only, joking (that's the usual think to say on here though isn't it?) - They were ruddy good though

I've been to a load of gigs in my 43 years as a human, and I honestly thought this was one of the best. I am biased of course but Wure were refreshingly good, even if they did look like college lecturers rather than a seminal post punk band.

There was less electro-songs from Wire, more their old style.

And I got trolleyed too, which I regretted yesterday Laughing

Oi - nothing wrong with looking like college lecturers, at least they can spell band names right Wink

Only joking.

Seriously regret not catching them in Notttingham or Leeds now. Sad

Manchester tomorrow night as well aren't they, WIRE ? Very Happy

No but really, Colin Newman wore a jacket on stage, though in fairness I believe the elbows were not, I repeat, not, covered by leather patches.

Honestly, I bloody loved the gig even though I had an English version of South Park's gay teacher Mr Garrison standing right behind me and being very enthusiastic for the band - ie 'Go boys go!'

But I got to sort of respecting him a bit by the end because he clearly was a big fan of old.

Pretty sure, even tho ticket sales weren't great, that Wire are pleasantly surprised and enthused by the reactions of fans and media. I think, hope they will be more prominent soon.

Only joking - Actually when I turned round and looked at the back of the venue it was pretty full - it wasn't far off a sell out.

They are bloody legendary are Wire, their album 154 is one of my all time favourites, and bloody well weird it is. 'Chairs Missing' and Pink Flag albums are more punk, in my opinion, but 154 is unique.

Honestly folks, I recommend you rush out and buy it, or rush to sit down and get it online. It's ace.

Shame we didn't meet up Jim - did you go for a pint or owt?

Prince of Wales pub has finally bitten the dust, thanks to bastard brewery. Half the pubs in Leeds are at risk due to rent increases etc.
theraven1979

Didn't realise the Prince Of Wales had closed - I was gonna call there for a pint when I realised the price of ale in the Rocket.
