I'm going too.........spoke to Baz in Bath three weeks ago and he said they were going to change the set list at long last! He also said they were recording the next day, a two and a half punk thrash song for the album and he thinks that the new offering is better than Norfolk Coast..........which will be nice!

ooo oooooh oooh dear. weird when people let their opinions get the better of them. i never knew the stranglers when they had hugh, so i don't really care that he left back when i was 12. i liked the "finger clicking prat' cos, because of him, i got to go to stranglers gigs - without him, there may not have bin any gigs between 90 and 06. i think i got used to paul's voice ... when the DJ played "skin deep" after the hugh set on friday night, I remarked on how weird it was to hear hugh's voice singing it, and not pauls. paul's singing was ok. his gestures and stuff got to me sometimes, but I just thought, well, there are dave and jj to look at, i can just not look at paul. paul can be a nice person sometimes, so really, i am not gonna bitch about him personally and call him a twat, or prat or whatever. not nice, not nice. it will be weird, not having him as the singer but I think that change is stability, we must constantly evolve. Nothing worse than stagnation. i'll go to stranglers mark 99 groups when i am in the UK. i will go and see hugh more as well (except just gag myself so i don't distract him) cos i like JJ, Baz and Hugh songs. it is sad paul isn't with them anymore, cos he might really miss being in the band. but change is good good good, i guess. yah |

I agree Han......it was strange seeing them without paul but after the opening bars of The Raven sounded out I just did'nt miss Paul at all. I will miss the banter and the piss-taking by him and I thank him for staying with us for sixteen years. I for one will not be slagging him off 'cos he's a top guy having met him loadsa times so before anyone does start the mud-slinging don't forget that Paul kept the band alive long after they could have split up and died! So cheers and thanks Paul and I wish you every success with Soulsec and whatever you do in the future. As for the band, let's get behind them as they are evolving once again. I mean , it's not like we have'nt been here before is it?[/b] | ||||||

Nice words and well summed up there grayo. I think I know who you are as I've been to quite a few gigs that you've been to also if you're the person I think you are. I can remember talking to you also at one of the SBE gigs. |
