Best album covermine would have been the rat motif on the back cover of rattus which should have been the front cover..anyway

I thought 'About Time' was quite good.

B+W.
Closely followed by The Raven.

Ditto.
Both fantastic covers.
Was very pleased with the La Folie artwork when that hit the shops.

Like Rattus, I prefer the pic on the on the back cover of the Folie.
Very emotive.

Absolutely. Sets the scene perfectly for that era.

Black and White for me, Thee Stranglers album cover, never equalled, a stark, cold and composite image - didn't even have to put their name on it.

" No More Heroes " is my fave cover but I also love " Rattus " & " B & W".

B & W for me - sends me back in time just seeing that cover.

Black & White for me on this one in a photo finish with The Raven & Rattus.
Instantly recognisable as a few have already said.
Had it painted on the back of my leather jacket at one point.

Rattus, B&W, AS and even NC - all great sleeves.
However, I plumped for Rattus - even if it all just was a coincidence the inclusion of future topics/themes present in this photo shoot gives it the edge for me.
Agree B&W says it all (without saying anything!!)

Black and White - iconic.
Closely followed by Rattus and The Raven. But I really think they got a bum deal with some of those other album covers.
Although if The Collection 1977-1982 had been in the list I'd have voted for it

I wouldn't vote for WIR
A decent cover could've helped the album a bit

B+W - classic simplicity

For me - Rattus , closely followed by B&W.
Anyone else think that the M2 album covers were pretty awful - unimaginative , bland . Improved of late with Norfolk Coast and Suite XV1 .....but the album cover does in a way seem to represent content , maybe with the exception of 10 , which was a fairly imaginative cover but pretty poor song content IMO .

I'm in the minority, but I like Gospel MiB due to not only the cover but how it relates to the rest of the concept package, the gatefold, painting inside, everything.

Yeah the MIB conceptually definitely, especially the inner gatefold pic.
Agree that B+W has that 'classic album' look to it.

I think the picture disc with JJ Burnel on one side and Hugh Cornwall on other beats all the album covers, I was going to post a pic of it on here but havent figured out how to attach pics yet, only looked at this forum today so until i figure it out ive stuck one side of the pic disc up as my Avatar just now on the left

Feline -- a simple and strong image. The silky and elegant panther perfectly reflects both the mood and the title of the album.

If "Live X-cert" was in the list, it might have got an honourable mention from me, but as it isn't, Black & White.

MANUINBLACK

controversial here but i love the "Dreamtime" cover, one of the most aboriginal covers ever.seriously though, there just something about it , although the 3D Raven is a bit special as well

That was rather predictable, I admit...
My second favourite is the Dreamtime cover. I agree with Manuinblack, there's something about it that appeals to the imagination -- the colours, the the outfits, the mystical atmosphere?
From a purely artistic point of view, I'd say Black & White is probably the best cover. But it only comes third place in my personal top 3.
And the only album cover I really don't like is Rattus -- way too much make-up on those guys.
