me and the girlfriend went to see baz with robot elvis at the weekend on the island of arran.baz with joss elliot(bass) and baz crosby(drums) played a variety of stuff you dont usualy hear pub bands doing(well i dont)tracks by the who,kinks,martha and the muffins,split enz,them,neil young and a few i cant remember/dont know.the friday night was quiet with about 20 people but that didnt seem to bother them.after the show baz and his girlfriend came and sat at our table for a while chatting as we've met him a few times.there cant be many bands of the stranglers stature who'd have a member play in a far flung pub then spend the rest of the night with punters.also had good chats with joss & baz no.2. saturday night was a lot busier and had support from singer/songwriter matt johnston and a demonstration from the islands belly dancing class(i aint joking)set was the same but just as good second time round.we had to go home sunday so didnt see that nights show but it was no doubt just as good.if they're playing a pub near you then go see em.and next time baz plays one of his semi regular shows on arran go see that.its different to the usual gig.
