B.U.T. TICKET OFFICE (Open for business?)

So come on, let's get organasized!

We're all pissed off with the on-line booking rip-offs i.e extra charges for admin fees & postage etc. But we don't have to take this shit - well, at least not all of the time......

I've started this thread because I know that many of us live near venues where if you pay cash for tickets no extras are added on. This can often mean a saving of at least a fiver per ticket and in these days when the 'credit crunch' is kicking in,saving a few quid on a ticket might be an incentive to opt for a night out as opposed to staying in watching 'The X-Factor'. Or summat!

We're all mates on here and I personally have alot of faith in Stranglers fans to help each other out. So, why don't people who are in a position to purchase tickets at face value post any help that they are able to offer here? Likewise, members can state their wants here. Not just for The Stranglers but any gigs I might add.

I'll start the ball rolling. 'Rock City' in Nottingham does not charge any extras if you pay cash at their box office. So, if anyone fancies a gig there and you want a ticket at face value pm me first. On receipt of a cheque & s.a.e I would be more than willing to help out. Same goes for 'The Rescue Rooms' & 'The Royal Concert Hall' btw.

Oh yeah, if anyone can help me get an SBE ticket at face value (Saturday night), I'd be most grateful Cool

This alright for ya Claire Question Wink

I can certinly try to get down the Bush to get face value ticks. But it is the most unreliable office I've known... will check out its times and PM you with concrete info.

Great idea!

Didn't Gizz say that you can nip into a Carling Academy box office and buy tickets at face value for not only that Carling Academy, but all the other Carling Academies too.If we get organised, there should be no need for anyone to have to buy a ticket from a ticket agency for a Carling Academy gig.Someone only has to ask and I'm sure someone will oblige in helping them get that rip off free ticket. It all involves trust and honesty which I'm sure we all have as Stranglers fans.Nice one,Baz!

I think this is a great plan.

Maybe also, the "host" getting the tickets can also arrange the curry for after the gig Idea

Bazza...don't take any notice of this piss taking bunch of cnuts!! I can do Norwich Question Question Question Seriously, I can. (Anyone venturing up the Anglian way?) The UEA will rob you blind whether or not you purchase in person or online but it's a good idea none the less.

At a push.....Corn Exchange.....(nah, feck off! I'm not going all the way 'downtown' from the station!)

Personally, could do with a 'standing' @ SBE on the Friday. (MESH Computers patently fail to do what they say on the farkin tin...cnuts!!!) Should be able to pick one up from some vagrant approximately half an hour before kick off. not worried.

Coo, doss!

So let me get this right... to save a coupla quid on a ticket one will spend a coupla quid on petrol, taxi or buses to purchase a ticket direct from the venue and then spend a coupla quid on petrol, taxi or buses to get home?

Now maybe I'm missing something here?
yellowcakeuf6

Sometimes old mate, you've just got to take one for the team! Laughing

Think you are.

I live pretty close to a Carling Academy and would happily pick up tickets (at face value) for any BUT regular who cares to send me the ticket price in advance. Got myself a couple of SBE tickets recently for £25 x 2.

I'm often in town and would not be making a special journey, incurring costs and wasting time etc. I wouldn't see it that way anyway and for some folks on here (who've sent me dvd, cd's etc) I would happily go out of my way to help (as they have helped me).

So great overall idea. Put my name down.

Actually, I wonder if someone could help me? I need a ticket for The Engine Shed and Manchester Academy (Manchester Academy is not a Carling Academy by the way). I will send you the money if you can help or in return I can get you 2 x tickets for a Carling Academy show.

By the way OG. We met briefly at The Spread Eagle last November when I took a few moments to introduce myself to you. You may remember that a couple of months prior to this meeting I had responded to your request for a copy of Rockpalast on DVD. I sent you a copy, no swap just free. Well, you had the opportunity to say thanks face to face, to buy me the pint that you promised etc but you just plain forgot. Too pissed to remember your manners were you matey?

Well put Sir Cube..

Sometimes you have to put yourself out, and if i'm doing so for myself, i would be very happy to do it for anyone on here.

I like my ticket in my hand before the gig, so if i have to travel to get mine i am very happy to pick up for others, no problem.

There are people on the forum who are very generous not only with discs but with help and advice, and this is one way of giving something back.

It's not compulsary !!!!!!!

But for me, it's a great idea, and hats off to TBC for starting this up.

If the band should play Peterborough again I will happily make a special trip into town to buy anyone here their ticket if no booking fee is chargeable at the venue. Please ignore my earlier cynicism.

Excellent post Mr Cube, obviously YOU haven't missed the point. I was gonna add that folk shouldn't have to go out their way to buy tickets etc and that the service may not be as quick as First Class Post...but I didn't think that needed spelling out.
